The blame for the growing pig menace lies with the Allahabad Municipal Corporation as it has failed to ensure cleanliness in the city apart from carrying out a drive against the pigs.

Ajay Mehrotra, a resident of Sultanpur Bhawa, says, "The number of pigs has increased in the locality and they roam freely. We have complained to the AMC but so far nothing has been done.
When TOI sough the reaction of municipal commissioner Ashok Kumar on the issue, he admitted that people are rearing many domestic animals within the municipal limits and there was need to check this. Regarding the pig menace, he said a regular drive would be undertaken to check pig menace.
