After a year of construction that limited parking and foot traffic for many downtown Brentwood businesses, merchants and city leaders are thrilled that the downtown revitalization project is complete and business is steadily recovering.
"I have noticed increased foot traffic since the work ended," Oak Street Boutique owner Lois Chelini said. "People are tired of not buying, and they are buying again, but I persevered through thick and thin."
During a ceremony last week marking the reopening of downtown,Media in category "Wholesale Super White Polished Tiles For Wall From China Manufacturers of cityscapes". civic leaders thanked property owners, merchants and residents for their patience during the construction.
The streetscape project represented the first downtown revamp in 20 years. It includes new streetlights, decorative benches, wider sidewalks, landscaping, median improvements, a modern fountain, monument signs and a gateway arch welcoming visitors to the area.
"We look around, and it is magnificent," Brentwood Mayor Bob Taylor said. "With the opening of the Civic Center, I see nothing but success. We survived it."
The $5.8 million spent on the project, all from redevelopment funds, was $400,000 less than budgeted, according to Taylor.
The project overcame some obstacles, including a ruptured gas line at the start of work last November, said Kwame Reed,cold commissioning of the Wholesale Solid Color Glaze Tiles For Floor From China Manufacturers mill is expected to start the project's liaison and the city's senior housing/redevelopment analyst.
He said construction was also slowed by more than 30 days of rain delays.
